Thanks for stopping by! My name is Janelle and I am so glad you’ve taken time to check out my site! I’m a wife to Kirk, mama to Rosalie and Matilda, ages 3 and 1. I created this site because I wanted women to have a resource for fitness and nutrition while navigating this crazy event called motherhood.

I believe in sustainable approaches to both fitness and nutrition. You won’t find any “Get Flat Abs in 2 weeks” or “Lose 10lbs in 21 days” plans here. I believe in playing the long game when it comes to our health. I believe in teaching women how to make little changes in their already busy lives that will yield big results over time.
As a Registered Nurse, I recognize that properly caring for our bodies through fitness and nutrition is vital to living long and healthy lives. But, I believe that the desire to change our bodies needs to come from a point of love, not hate. A love and appreciation for what our bodies have done and will do.
I’ve always been interested in fitness, I played sports in high school (albeit, averagely), and continued to be active throughout college and afterwards.
In 2017, I became a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM and Pre- and Post-Natal Fitness Specialist through Moms Into Fitness. I have also taken courses through Julie Wiebe, PT. While I love and appreciate all fitness, my passion lies with women before and after pregnancy.
Why? Because I find that this particular population is underserved in the fitness community and in our culture as a whole.
There is an immense pressure from our society to “get our bodies back”, to not look like we’ve had a baby. Celebrities are praised for losing all of their baby weight within weeks. Even people we run into in our everyday lives feel the need to comment on our bodies!
I’ve been there. I didn’t recognize my body and just wanted so bad for it to look like it did before pregnancy. I was sure that my “fit pregnancy” would result in a quick postpartum recovery.
But, I found my abs were soft. I was peeing my pants with activity. I felt a pressure in my pelvis I was sure shouldn’t be there.
I know now that not all the exercises I was doing while pregnant were appropriate for my growing body, especially for my core and pelvic floor!
I know now that I had no business doing a high intensity workout with crazy abdominal work at 6 weeks postpartum.
I know now that incontinence (even a little leak) is NEVER normal.
I discovered that new and expecting moms are given a lot of information about how to take care of their babies, but not very much about how to take care of their bodies.
I don’t want other women to deal with their issues in private, assuming it’s just how their bodies function now. Assuming that pregnancy and childbirth results in inevitable consequences.
I don’t want women to say, “nobody told me”.
My goal is that instead of “bouncing back”, women are taught how to bounce forward. I want all women to learn how to properly rehabilitate their bodies after pregnancy and become stronger than ever before.
I want women to learn how to fit fitness and nutrition into their already busy lives. I believe that functional fitness should be a part of any women’s life, because motherhood is a sport all its own.
My goal with this site is for you to find the information you need for pregnancy and beyond. Whether you just found out that you’re pregnant, you just gave birth or it’s been 25 years, it is never too late or too early to learn!
